Top three 2014 NHL Draft prospects You Should Know.

With the 2014 NHL Draft on the horizon, we here at Shaw Sports thought that hockey fans needed to be in the loop regarding this year’s top prospects. So our NHL analyst Jacob Neff compiled a list of the top three North American prospects and included the results of their 2012-13 and 2013-14 seasons! Also included are the first ten picks in the first round of the 2014 NHL Draft and the teams who own them. Sam Bennet

Sam Bennet

1. Sam Bennet (C):

  • 9th overall pick in the 2012 OHL Draft by the Kingston Frontenacs
  • Played 40 games for the Frontenacs in his 2012-13 season and scored 40 points
  • 66 points in 40 games in the 2013-14 season
  • Finished the 2013-14 season with 36 goals and 91 points in the 57 games played

 

Aaron Ekblad

Aaron Ekblad

2. Aaron Ekblad (D):

  • Selected 1st overall in the 2011 OHL Draft
  • Only player to be given the “exceptional player” status (due to being born in 1996) in the 2011 OHL Draft
  • 7 goals, 27 assists, and 34 points in the 2012-13 season
  • 23 goals, 30 assists, and 53 points in the 2013-14 season

3. Sam Reinhart (C):

  • Selected 15th overall in the 2010 WHL dRaft by the Kootenay Ice
  • 35 goals, 50 assists, and 85 points in the 2012-13 season
  • 36 goals, 69 assists, and 105 points in the 2013-14 season
