Chris Paul is enjoying another stellar year in what will be a Hall of Fame career. With longevity comes comfortability and understanding of one’s preferences. After 13 years in the league and 11 signature shoes…Paul couldn’t be more at ease in his own skin (and shoes).
“I’ve been doing this for a number of years now, and after learning about all of the tech and as I’ve gotten older, I now want my shoe to get lower and to be wearable right out of the box,” says Paul. “Now, everything is about speed and traction.”
Paul’s new CP3.XI has five essential elements that he thinks constitute a perfect sneaker.
An internal lacing system with a midfoot strap (Stability), a solid rubber outsole (Traction), Zoom Air bags in the forefoot and heel (Cushion), a TPU plate under the lateral forefoot (Quickness), and an exploded CP3 logo on the heel (Personality).
Paul worked with Jordan Brand designers to refine his signature shoe to deliver on the key aspects of his game: aggressive quickness, agile stop-and-go cuts and intelligent drives.
“I think the story is what makes the shoe,” Paul explains. “The different things that happen in my life tell my stories, like art.”
