Aaron Paul has transitioned from a phenomenal television show to the big screen with the new race car movie ‘Need for Speed’ that hits theaters on March 14th. The video game turned film brings us into the world of illegal street car racing from the perspective of a racer who’s trying to do the right thing. Paul’s character is named ‘Tobey Marshall’, owner of humble auto body shop with three close friends that work with him. He and his friends are thrusted back into the world of street racing when a tragic event happens that affects all of them… especially ‘Tobey’.
The exotic sports cars, impossible stunts and specifically the sound effects are gregarious and loud to keep the action throttled throughout the whole movie. The action is packed and the wheels are spinning, but the acting is mediocre and the plot is sadly predictable. As an action-packed movie, it hits you with a punch but if you are looking for anything thought provoking or a glimmer of Paul’s ‘Jesse Pinkman’ character from ‘Breaking Bad’ you will sadly be mistaken. He never says the word ‘bitch’ in the way that we all know and love and his attempt as a bad ass intimidator or threat is lack luster at best.
