The usually very traditional San Antonio Spurs are going to go with a new look, for a few nights at least.
In order to honor the military the Spurs unveiled camouflage uniforms that will be worn on Nov. 13 against the Washington Wizards and again on Feb. 28 against the Charlotte Bobcats. Here are a few quotes and excerpts from the official press release:
“Playing in San Antonio, we’re constantly reminded of the selflessness and courage of those that serve,” said Spurs guard Danny Green. “We owe them a debt of gratitude and it is an honor to recognize and show support to all active and retired military members.”
The game against the Wizards is the first of multiple USAA Salute Night games during the season in which USAA is offering up to a 40 percent discount on tickets to active military and veterans. For more information on USAA Salute Nights or to purchase tickets, visit Spurs.com/salute. Attending fans will have an opportunity to bid on the game-worn camouflage jerseys in a post-game auction. Proceeds will benefit Silver & Black Give Back youth programs. For more information on the post-game jersey auction, please visit SBGB.org.
It’s for a good cause and the Spurs continue to be leaders in the league both on and off the court.
